FIRE BAN LIFTED

Received from Dysart:

The Fire Ban for Dysart et al and the rest of Haliburton County has been lifted.  There is still a risk of fire as things are still pretty dry, so please exercise all cautions and remember that there is no daytime burning unless the necessary permits and approvals have been acquired through the fire department.  We are in the process of removing the signage throughout the Municipality and have updated our website and all social media channels that we manage.

Bear Advice from the MNRF

25 July 2018 | 0 Comments

Received from the MNRF:

To whom it may concern at the Drag and Spruce Cottage Association,

There have been multiple reports generated of a bear(/s) causing trouble within your cottage association boundaries. With the upcoming long weekend we would like to request your assistance in delivering outreach regarding human bear conflict reduction. You may also see similar outreach flowing through local media. This is not due to an increase in bear related incidents, rather it is a proactive reminder of good practices while residing in bear country.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reminding residents and cottagers to be bear wise and reduce human bear conflict by removing attractants such as open garbage, grease and food residue from barbecue grills, ripe fruit, meat scraps and food in the composter, bird feeders, pet food and outdoor beverage fridges. For more tips on being bear wise at the cottage visit Ontario.ca/bearwise.

More information is outlined in the attached Bear Wise fact sheet – click here. Please feel free to distribute to the ratepayers of your cottage association.

Thank you,

Jordan Beatty
