The Novelty Swim for young children has been cancelled today, Saturday, August 5th. There are concerns about the weather forecast, the colder weather and the effect on the young children. Podmore Beach barely exists due to high water and could be a safety concern. Kristen and Kylie look forward to seeing you next year!
The Ced Hurd Mile Swim is also cancelled as Thunderstorms are threatening.
Fun Day should be better weather and a good afternoon for the whole family. Events start at 2 PM at the Fish Hatchery on Sunday, August 6th, on Gelert Road ( CR 1). It is just 5 minutes south of the hospital.

I received via mail a notice on the Township of Dysart et al “Official Plan Update” – to view click here. You will note that a Public Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday August 8, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Office at 135 Maple Avenue. A copy of the Official plan is available from the Planning Department at the Municipal office between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM , Monday to Friday, or by phoning 705-457-1740, or from the Municipality’s website at http://www.dysartetal.ca/planning/dysart-et-al-official-plan-5-year-review-and-update/
This meeting is open to all of the public to give input to Council on the New Official Plan. I have read parts of the plan and will be making a submission to Council on behalf of the Drag and Spruce Lakes Property Owners Association. My reading is not complete yet but I did note that the Municipality intends to re-designate the site of the proposed Biochar plant to an employment designation. I have not completed my review and cannot say at this time what impact this change will have on the site.
