Ced Hurd Memorial Mile Swim

The Annual Ced Hurd Memorial Mile Swim will be held on August 1, 2026. The mile swim has been a DSLPOA event for over 40 years to honour Ced Hurd, an original cottager on the lake. Ced was passionate about swimming and water safety, teaching many cottagers and children on the lake to swim and feel confident in the water.
All swimmers must have a non motorized guide/safety boat paddling beside them. This boat will help keep swimmer on course & provide help if the swimmer becomes distressed. The event is open to all skill levels and ages. The only requirement is all swimmers complete the mile unassisted (no life preservers, floatation devices or assistance from their paddling guide or other swimmers).
All swimmers who complete the event will receive a certificate of completion with their time recorded.
Note: All swimmers or guardians will be asked to sign a DSLPOA association waiver the morning of the swim.
Start Location: “Blueberry Island” – The Heyes Family property.
**The course is marked with buoys**
Finish Location: 1867 Dudley Rd (back of East Bay) at Joe Mazzocco & Pauline Kutnjak’s property.
Swimmers can register the morning of the swim, but early registration is helpful and greatly appreciated. Email or call/text with the swimmers full name and age to Christine Young at Christine_young@sympatico.ca or phone/text 519-240-9052
