FYI Broadband Investment

We all know the importance (and frustration…) of access to broadband. Here is a collaborative effort by Haliburton property owner associations to spur the government program – a letter sent to key officials:

"The Connectivity Committee of the Kennisis Lake Cottage Owners' Association coordinates a group of Haliburton County Lake Associations who are working together to improve telecom connectivity in our area.

Please find attached a letter from these Lake Associations (Drag & Spruce Lakes Property Owners Association, Eels Lake Cottagers Association, Growler Lake Property Owners Association, Haliburton Lake Cottagers' Association, Hall & Hawks Lakes Property Owners Association, Horseshoe Lake Property Owners Association, Kennisis Lake Cottage Owners' Association, Otter Lake Cottagers Association, Paudash Lake Conservation Association, Redstone Lake Cottagers Association)."

  1. The answer for anyone who wants or needs broadband internet is Starlink. We installed it in Jan 2021 and it’s been working great ever since. It is expensive but we saved a lot each month by eliminating everything from Bell. Streaming is great with Starlink and we get everything we want and much more than we had before.
There was (and still might be) an issue for seasonal residents regarding cancelling or postponing service, but I understand this will be resolved.
    Hope this helps.
