Lake Update – April 17, 2016

April 17 – Lake Update, from our DSLPOA President – Barb Bohlin:

We’re having a wonderful spring weekend here on the shores of Drag Lake, and while the ice has not totally left I wanted to let you know that at least one pair of LOONS has returned safe and sound from their journey. Let’s hope the other 3 pairs follow soon. Let’s also hope spring is here to stay.

A few other items: in late June the DSLPOA  executive will meet.  One of the items for discussion is where to direct our Charitable Donation this year.  In recent years we have given to The Volunteer Dental Clinic, the Haliburton Library, the Volunteer Firefighters , Minden Flood Victims and The Land Between. If you have suggestions please send them to us along with your reasons.

Two dates are to be noted for the summer.  Our AGM is a week later than usual, on Sunday July 10th    at the curling club.  We hope this will help free up your long weekend or perhaps attend and enjoy the Sailing Race.

Fun Day, Sunday July 31st ,  will once again be at the Fish Hatchery on CR 1, south of the hospital.  This turned out to be an excellent location last year with a good playing field – although we could have done without the rain at the end.

We already have floating logs and debris on the lake.  When you put your boats in the water travel slowly and watch for floating loose docks as well. If your docks were moored for the winter in a bay or on the water please put them back on your property as soon as possible.  While no one owns the water offshore, docks can make navigation tricky or destroy the view of others.

Enjoy spring while it lasts…!
