The Executive of the DSLPOA fully supports the CHA's various initiatives to achieve healthy lakes. One key indicator to a long term healthy lake is to have 75% of the shoreline in its natural state. In that regard, the property owners on the three lakes that comprise our DSLPOA community have some work to do. Only 50% of Drag Lake is considered to have a natural shoreline, with Spruce lake closer to the target at 65%. This means that without action, over time the health of the lakes will continue to degrade. As such the Executive of the DSLPOA supports the principles of the proposed County by-law, and will work with the County, CHA and other Lake Associations to ensure that the appropriate bylaws will be in place to protect our lakes.
Please attend the upcoming DSLPOA AGM in July where this topic will be on the agenda for discussion. In the meantime your Executive welcomes your comments, suggestions and concerns. Together we are stronger.
