Notice – Eurasian watermilfoil in our lake

An aquatic plant that has been identified by the Ministry as probably Eurasian Water-Milfoil has been spotted in Drag Lake in 3 patches about 100 m off of Harris Beach*. It is an aquatic plant, kelp like, with a dense, matted surface, rooted in about 2 m of water. It is and has been in the Drag and Burnt River system for some time, and it flourishes in hot weather.

*Note: If you look on the map in the Directory (or, click here), Harris Beach runs from Pine Tree Point east along Blueberry Trail until the sand runs out. The shallow area can be seen on the underwater contour lines going south from the end of Blueberry Trail. There is a white marker there that someone has placed but please don't get close and drive through the weeds as it causes them to spread.
