Updates – July 5, 2016

July 5th DSLPOA Update

We have several bits of news to share so are sending out this update both on the website and as an email. We hope the information is useful!

Annual General Meeting

We look forward to seeing you at the AGM next Sunday, July 10th at 9:30 AM at the Curling Club. Come earlier and have a coffee with neighbours. We’d like your feedback on moving the AGM to the weekend after the Canada Day weekend. We hope that you appreciated having the long weekend for your family and guests. We have speakers attending the AGM who will give information and answer questions re: the new Dock Permit Regulations and the upcoming Dam work on the Drag River. Both important & timely issues for all of us.  Bert Bicknell will also present the general results and recommendations of the Shoreline Survey which will help us preserve healthy water quality. Murray Fearrey and Derek Knowles will update us on news from Dysart et al and are always available to answer questions. We will be presenting our Charitable Donation to the Haliburton Highlands Hospital Auxilliary and hear news of their amazing work.

2016 Directory & Newsletter

Our Annual Directory has been further delayed due to the possible postal strike so we have decided not to put it in the mail at this time.  You can pick up your copy at the AGM or from your local Area Director. If this doesn’t work for you please call Barb (705) 457-8864 to make arrangements. As usual it’s packed with good information. Please note that the published President’s Greeting is incorrect ( it’s from 2015) and we have put the 2016 greeting in the envelope.

Volunteers Needed

We have an amazing team of volunteers that keep our association running smoothly.  Due to completed terms and other reasons we are in need of more volunteers for the following jobs: Treasurer, Membership Chair, Advertising Coordinator and several Area Directors. Please think about these roles and perhaps discuss them with other family members.  If we cannot fill these roles then we will have to reduce the activities of the association. Feel free to call Barb or any executive member to discuss them. The more people we have the lighter the job!!!!

Hazardous Waste Day

Please note that the date for this is Saturday, July 16 from 9AM to 3 PM at the Haliburton Landfill.  This is several weeks earlier than usually scheduled.

Automatic Email Elerts & Updates

You can sign up on our website for automatic notification of updates and additions to the website on the main front page.  This saves you from having to continually keep checking. If you’re planning on attending any of our great activities we always publish any changes on the website – www.dragandsprucelakes.ca .

The association email is: dragandsprucelakes@gmail.com.

Have a wonderful and safe summer on our waterways! We’ll look forward to seeing you at some of our summer events.
