The milfoil battle continues – DSLPOA fighting on your behalf.
More outbreaks have been identified, and our action plan is in place. From our Lake Steward:
Further to my report on the installation of matting over the original Harris Beach milfoil outbreak we have since been notified of & identified as Eurasian Milfoil 3 additional sites.(to view a map of approximate locations – click here)
One is just North of Blueberry Island on the East Bay side.
One is Just South of Jumping Rock also in Drag Lake
There is also an outbreak in the East end of Bonham’s Bay
Your D&SLPOA Board has considered the benefit & cost of installing additional matting over these areas this Sept before they enlarge & before the MNR approval expires. It has accepted our recommendation to proceed. The Galcon Marine dive team will again be utilized to do so on Sept 12.
This additional expense will exhaust our Lake Steward funding.
However there is still work to be done next Summer to complete the job where the milfoil first appeared. Incremental funding will be required or there will be no work.
